Doctor Visit

Today was my monthly appointment to check on Hudson. His heartbeat was 154 {just goes to show that you can't believe old wives tales!}. I have gained a little more weight, but my doctor doesn't seem to be worried. I, on the other hand, am a little stressed out about it! I've always heard that people gain more weight with their first pregnancy, but I am just not prepared to pack on a ton of weight! I watch what I eat and try to eat healthy. I don't deprive myself of things I want (like chocolate and other goodies) but I don't over indulge either. So, I guess I just have to accept the fact that my body is going to do exactly what it needs to do. I was also a little concerned because my feet and hands have been swelling {I can't even put my wedding rings on!}, but he assured me that it was not a big deal {since my blood pressure has been so good}. So, Hudson is a healthy little man with a strong heartbeat and momma is okay {just a little larger than she expected!}. My next appointment is next month and I will do the glucose test {ugh!}.

pregnancy highlights-22 weeks

How Far Along: 22 weeks
Total Weight Gained: 14 lbs {which seems like so much to me, but my doctor doesn't seem concerned!}
Maternity Clothes: I've been out of my regular clothes for a while now. I have stretched out everywhere and my belly feels HUGE!!!
Sleep: I LOVE sleeping!! During the first trimester, I woke up around 3am every morning. Now, I could sleep all day long! But I hear the third trimester brings no sleep so I'm trying to enjoy it now :)
Best Moment of the Week: Registering for baby Hudson and ordering his crib! Now he has somewhere to sleep!
Food Cravings: Ice Cream Sandwiches {from Harris Teeter} and plain M&Ms...yummmm
Food Aversions: Meat {of any kind} and Mexican food {which is really sad because I love it!}
Belly button/stretch marks: No stretch marks so far {wooohoooo!!!}. Belly button is still in.
Symptoms: Heartburn, swelling {in my hands and feet}, feeling huge and bloated, getting tired easily.....in general, I am not a person that has loved being preggers....oh, and ridiculous amounts of back pain {when I sit, when I stand...pretty much all the time!}
Andrew's pregnancy symptoms: None this week....although, he says he's gained weight {but of course you can't tell!} and at one time he was feeling tired and a little sick!
Movement: He moves a lot. Before it was just a little movement that I could feel but not it feels like he's cutting flips!
Gender: Boy-Hudson Reid
What I miss: Wearing my normal clothes and Mexican food {ha!}
Milestones: I am over half-way though the pregnancy!!!
*my camera is currently not working so no bump pics....hopefully I will get a new one soon!*

I thought I would be better at this...

When I first started this blog, it was a way for me to record everything going on in our lives. Well, for the past 22 weeks, I have missed out on recording one very BIG thing that's going on in our lives....we are expecting a little boy May 18, 2011!!!

There is no particular reason I haven't kept up with blogging....there are many! ha!

Let me start at the beginning....

On Sunday, September 12th, one of my friends, Valerie, came up to me at church and said she had a dream that I was 4 weeks pregnant...I thought she was crazy. Andrew, on the other hand, had been telling me for days that I was pregnant. Monday night, Andrew's parents came over for dinner and I kept telling his mom how exhausted I was {and had been!} and she kind of looked at me funny but didn't say anything. Tuesday, September 14th, I woke up and took a shower. While I was in the shower, I thought to myself "maybe you should take a pregnancy test, just to be sure....your period is 5 days late!". I jumped out of the shower and took a pregnancy test {the dollar store kind}. Almost immediately, 2 pink lines appeared....screaming, "you're pregnant!!!". Obviously, this was a mistake. So, I woke Andrew up to make sure I wasn't seeing things. He saw 2 pink lines as well. So, I headed to Wal-Mart to get a pregnancy test that said "pregnant" or "not pregnant".....because the dollar store test was probably just a cheap-o and wasn't working...right?!? Wrong!! It's not that I wasn't excited ecstatic. I was just in complete and total shock! We weren't planning on getting pregnant until next summer...God had different plans! My first appointment was that next week because I wasn't exactly sure how far along I was. It was the worst appointment ever. Ever. My doctor really stressed the fact that I was so early in my pregnancy and that 1 in 4 women miscarry. So, I didn't want to talk to anyone about being pregnant. I didn't want to get attached and then lose the baby. Every morning I woke up and prayed that God would take away my stress and fear. He did. I started getting really excited about the sweet little life growing inside of me and trusting that God had a plan for me and him. For the first 17 weeks, I was sick.as.a.dog. Seriously. There were very few things I could eat {except toast and yogurt} or drink {except sprite and lemon berry slushies from sonic}. And I was exhausted. As in, could barely make it though my day at work. So, blogging was not important. I was just trying to survive! ha! At 18 weeks, we found out he was a healthy boy and we had a little party to celebrate {which deserves a post of its very own!}. Oh, and at 17 weeks, I felt him move for the first time!! It was incredible...but also very strange! I was lying in bed one morning {around 4:30am because for a while my body thought being up at weird hours of the night was completely acceptable} and I felt a little bubble in my stomach {almost like gas, but not. ha!}. Since then, I have felt it more and more often. And now, he enjoys doing little flips in there! In fact, today, I had my hand on my belly and felt him move and saw my hand move along with it. He must have been really moving around in there because that was the first time anything like that has happened. Hopefully when Andrew gets home he will be able to feel him move a little!

Hopefully I will be able to keep up with posting more regularly! Tomorrow I will be 22 weeks so I plan to start posting {at least} every Wednesday to keep up with this whole experience a little better!
